Foreword
To provide better services for film shooting is one of the major moves of Guangdong Province to promote the development of the film industry during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
Guangdong Province has always been the leading force of Chinese film industry since the birth of Chinese film and has set many records in the history of Chinese film. Stepping into the new era， Guangdong Province will seize the epochal momentum to take all potential advantages to raise the level of the film industry by making full use of all favorable policies.
Film industry enjoys continuous prosperity. The number of cinemas in Guangdong Province changed from 716 in 2015 to 1488 in 2020， and the number of the screens installed changed from 3759 to 9014， which made it possible for Guangdong film industry to win the championships for box office in the past 19 years and for Guangdong Province to top the film markets throughout the whole country.
Good news follows Guangdong films. Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge won the the Five-One Project Award for excellent films issued by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China for cultural and ethical construction; Like the Dyer’s Hand and Starry Road won the 33rd Golden Rooster Award for documentary and science-education films issued by China Film Association and the honor of the Best Children’s Film; the documentary film Changing China: Life is Marvelous Because of You produced for the 70th birthday of the People’s Republic of China was listed among the priority documentary programs by the International Bureau of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China and won the award for 2019 Top Ten Most Influential Documentary Films.
Yet Guangdong film industry needs more effort to raise its quality while enjoying prosperity in terms of the number of films produced. What remains unchanged is the fact that it has “highlands” but lacks “peaks”， which suggests that Guangdong film industry still needs to gather all its power for its development.
The publication of Guide to Film Shooting in Guangdong against such a background proves to be beneficial. It provides a good opportunity for us to integrate and assort all the film resources in Guangdong Province to serve the creation of excellent films by providing excellent services for film shooting and finally to serve the development of the film industry. Relevant policies concerning the film industry issued by the provincial， municipal and district governments， the rich store of photography spots， various film production bases， and various film production institutions are all included in this book， which may help to solve the problems encountered by Guangdong film industry and finally improve the level of photography services for Guangdong film industry.
Besides， the publication of this book will promote various service platforms for Guangdong film industry to improve their services for film shooting， build online exhibition platforms， and provide “one-stop” consultation and photography services for film agencies and companies. We hope to provide high-quality services for the congregation of film talents and other resources that help Guangdong to fulfill its plan to lead China’s film industry as the window to show China to the world.
